Super TNT

A Minecraft add-on built with my kids' ideas - 70 kinds of TNT, trap blocks, magic items, giant monsters and a hundred-odd disguises, generated from one Python file and played on their tablets.

The ideas come from my kids: "a TNT that scatters paper when it blows up", "sand that explodes when you dig it", "a ball that makes everyone tiny". Each one is written in an evening and tried on a tablet the next day, and they say what is not right. That is how a TNT mod grew to 70 explosives, from Zeynep TNT to Doomsday TNT, plus trap blocks, magic items, four giant monsters and 135 disguises to change into with the Transformation Wand.

The pack is a Minecraft Bedrock add-on, one .mcaddon file that Minecraft on an Android tablet installs with a tap. Everything is generated from one Python file — the TNT, block, item, monster and disguise lists live there, and the same lists produce the catalogue page and the wall of 70 TNT drawn from the pack's own textures. ./ctl deploy tablet builds the pack and sends it to every connected tablet over Wi-Fi, which is how the next day's testing starts.

Most TNT share one recipe: eight of a material around a normal TNT. Lit by flint, a redstone signal or a neighbouring explosion, it jumps, rolls, blinks and goes off after four seconds. The site is in Turkish, like the pack.
